Norris Fire Department to celebrate 75th anniversary

On Saturday, August 25th, the Norris Volunteer Fire Department will celebrate its 75th anniversary. I

n recognition of this occasion, a commemorative 75th anniversary challenge coin will be awarded to fire department alumni.

In addition to the beautiful cars on display, there will be on open house of the fire department and The Norris Museum will display memorabilia of the Norris Volunteer Fire Department since its beginnings in 1943.

The car show begins at 8 a.m. with the open house venues opening at 10:00.

For entertainment the “Fourtuitous Barbershop Quartet” will also begin a melodious performance at 10:00. Steve Klima, a member of the quartet is also an NVFD alumnus.

At 11:00 hamburger dinners will be served.

At 1:00 the second annual Anderson County Waterball Competition will begin. The Claxton Volunteer Fire Department was last year’s winner and will return to defend the trophy.
