Shooting injures one

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office took a man into custody after a shooting sent another man to the hospital.

Deputies responded to a shooting in the parking lot of Global Metals off Highway 62 just inside Morgan County. When they arrived, they found 38-year-old Anthony Padgett suffering from a gunshot would to the torso.

Padgett was flown by Lifestar to UT Medical Center and while no official word on his condition has been released, he was described as “stable” when he was transported from the scene.

Another man was taken into custody for questioning. His name has not been released as no charges had been filed as of the time this report was filed. Investigators did say Wednesday that the shooting appears to be domestic in nature.

The District Attorney General’s office is also involved in the investigation.
