The Campbell County Jail is now certified by the state for the first time in 30 years, according to Sheriff Robbie Goins. On Thursday, Goins said the jail had passed inspection, which included meeting more than 200 standards and benchmarks set by the Tennessee Corrections Institute. Officials have been working for five years to ease overcrowding and reattain certification,, part of which included expanding the jail. The Campbell County Kail now has an inmate capacity of 322, has 47 full-time employees and operates on a budget of roughly $4 million.
