You guys at WYSH are exactly the opposite of most radio sations. Most stations, you want them to shut-up and play the tunes. With WYSH its kinda-sorta backwards---seems like we never get tired of hearing all the interesting (and funny) things you have to say! Keep up the good work and thank-you for not conforming to the "typical" model of a radio station. And we still enjoy your great music to boot!

This 32 degrees is just freezing! Do you think if you guys changed the forecast to something more pleasant that it might have a positive effect on the real forecast--kinda like positive thinking? Otherwise we'll just have to learn to live and enjoy the weather as it is!

The previous entry of Johnny Cash requesting that his music be kept alive by playing "Cocaine Blues" is probably not an accurate portrayal of what he would like played as a tribute to his memory! In Johnny's later years he was quite a spiritually minded individual who would rather be remembered for songs like "Peace in the Valley," and other tirades of inspirational music he recorded.

Recently I have listened to your simulcast of WBIR TV news quite frankly alot as of late. And the other day as I was listening the strangest idea came over me. I was wondering, since the stations call letters are WBIR why don't they just ad a D on the end and make thier call letters WBIRD...then they could call themselves BIRD-TV, or TV for the BIRDS, or promote thier news show as NEWS FOR THE BIRDS, and for thier station mascot they could use BIG BIRD! I feel this promotional idea could really get that station some major publicity--the only problem, is that they would have to be extreemly sensitive when they covered such stories as the Bird Flu!

I have a question. I have a silly, but very embarassing question I want to ask on "Ask Your Neighbor," but its so personal, I would'nt want to give my name. Are we allowed to ask controversial questions without giving out our name--I just don't want to experience the shame of exposing my situation and am thereby requesting that you make your rules evident so I don't call in and make an old fool of myself. Thanks

I just finished writing the last entry, and it seems that while I was writing it you guys were in the process of cleaning up the spam! You guys sure work late! By the way, I wasn't trying to complain, I'm just bummed out because my guestbook page is still slightly out of wack from that one attack. But thanks for keeping up with the trash removal as you do so faithfully!

Once again, the Satanic Spamer(s) have struck again! That one spammer that throws the whole page off center and makes every entry a one liner that struck a week or so ago, messed things up so much that I have to jimmy the guestbook page back and forth just to read everything--so her attack has never really been completely recovered from. All other pages on the site work perfect, but every since that attack my guestbook page,(and I'm talking about on multiple computors) has never been the same--so these folks apparently are creating problems that keep the guestbook messed up beyond repair---what a bummer!

I've been listening in alot lately, and have'nt heard of any upcoming public appearances by Ron Meredith! I have yet to meet him in person, and my only motive is to press the flesh of my hand up against the flesh of his palm. Its just one of those deals where I listen to him all the time on the radio, and it would be neat to know that I've shaken his hand as I listen to him each day.

Having just made several comments about Freddy Fender in the guestbook several days back, I must say I am deeply saddened to see this fine soul has gone on to Hillbilly Heaven! His death has come as a shock to me, and much to my suprize, after I called him a one-hit wonder, I read a write-up on him revealing that he had quite a few hits during his rather colorful lifetime! My hats off to freddy, and may we enjoy many more years of WYSH playing his unique country-mexican music-occasionally, that is! And may we all take this time to pause for a moment of silence as my next teardrop falls.

To Mib Black, author of previous entry: Mib, I too spend alot of time at this sight, not only looking at the tirades of exciting information on this sight, but while I do it I click the little ear at the top of the page and listen in! It has changed my life, what I have learned from this sight and listening into the enormously informative talk shows I hear each day, has loaded my brain with plenty of topics for exciting conversation with women--resulting in several phone calls from women friends each day, it has resulted in a promotion at work because my boss is so blown away with the interesting ideas that he doesn't know I picked up on WYSH! Therefore, I find myself able to fully recommend that everyone can benefit from a little more exposure the the WYSH website, and especially listening, (and watching) the exciting broadcasts!

WOW......I found you guys on the net and flipped out. I grew up in Clinton in the 1970s. WYSH & their sister station WCFA were what we grew up with. I have not been back to Clinton in almost 28 years. It make me wounder what happened to all the people I used to listen to (Jim & Fred Stair; Charlie Phillips; Clyde Scott; Keith Duckett; Cliff Jennings; Adele; Bill Waddell) I know some of the people I used to hear on WYSH went on to other radio stations ( Adele is in TV in Denver I think, and Duckett went on to WOKI and later WCFL, Scott went to WIVK. Anyway you have a really good sound even though I don't know anyone there anymore, keep up the good work and good luck. I may just log in & listen from time to time.

I'm commenting on Debbie's previous entry---Girl you are going to freeze yourself into a frenzy if you lay out in the sun tommorrow! You need to find yourself a good man who can pay your salon bill! At least one area salon plays WYSH for its untra-violet reciepients, and even more so, there is just no sense in losing your tan line! Try calling "Ask Your Neighbor" and see if you can't find a sane solution to your dilema!

Burr! Its getting chilly in this town tonite! But keep your chin up because tommorrow its going to be sunny and 61 degrees--allowing us all to lay out in our bikini's and maybe darken up a little--especially important to me since my membership at the tanning salon ran out. I guess I'll be laying out soakin' up some sun, and listening the WYSH. The only sad thing about having to tan outdoors, is that my tanning line shall return!

To Mack from Clinton: I am in the radio business here locally, and how Ron runs on so little sleep is an interesting question, but one thing I can tell you is a fact, is that in the Radio Business Ron is not known as a "D.J," but rather as an "Air Personality!" The latter title comes with the years and the experience--not to say D.J.'s are not extreemly talented--"Air Personality" suggests a more honed command of broadcasting skills.

I have a question that is bugging the hay out of me! I hear Ron's golden tones on the air all morning on WYSH, and then all thru the evening once again his golden tones are up all night giving the exact time! How does he do that? Does he ever sleep? He sounds so up and wide awake in the morning to top it all off! I guess Ron must just be a "WONDER D.J!

I'm writing in regard to Wayland from Clinton's previous entry regarding his desire to hang out with a D.J. Wayland, don't you realize that D.J.s are just regular people who have a knack for flapping thier jaws infront of a mike or maybe a crowd of on-lookers? I've heard they are kind of strange, and really feel you would be better off in the company of someone like myself who could put all of my time and energy into making you happy! I can talk and walk like a D.J. and might even be able to tell you a thing or two you will never hear on the Radio! Call into the next Trading Time and leave your number--and I'll be your own little personal D.J!

I was just wondering with the weekend coming up and all, do you d.j.'s and radio people get together, and have massive d.j. parties? Do you get together and crack funnies to each other and eat finger foods and drink fine wines? I've never quite known for sure what the life of a radio celebrity would be like, but maybe you could invite listeners to you wild parties once in a while. Maybe you could have a contest called the listener of the week, and the winner could hang out with ya'll on the weekends and see what your like in person! Just an idea from a guy who has always wanted to hang out with a d.j!

I have a concern I was hoping ya'll might be able to help me with since I'm too shy to call in live with. I listen to your station all day long and love it--the only problem is, is when I try to get some cleaning done around the house. Whenever I turn on my vacume cleaner your signal goes all static! Would a new vacume cleaner help or is this an un-avoidable cirscumstance. Its just a nuisance because I have to keep turning my vacume on and off so as to not miss anything thats being said--forcing me to do most of my sweeping when you play music-which is also a stressor becuase I like your music too. I guess if nothing else, I can have my carpet torn out, and put in tile and go back to the good 'ole broom. I know there is an old Barbara Mandrell song called "Sweeping with your Radio on," so I know it can be done, somehow or another.

Kevin from Knoxville--the rumors about Wysh going spanish are not true. That rumor got sarted because a national resturaunt chain called the Mexican Wishbone Club is interested in opening up a mexican resturaunt in the old Hammers location--or possibly somewhere else around Clinton. The confusion may have started because WYSH refers to themselves as WISH sometimes. However-don't be too dissapointed because every now and then WYSH does play Freddy Fender as part of thier country classic line-up. I have heard rumors, however, that a Knoxville FM with faltering ratings has checked into the possibility of a spanish format change but my sources tell me that there is no chance of WYSH changing format.

October 3, 2006 4:03 PM
 » Kevin (Knoxville)
I heard you guys were changing your format to spanish. I also heard Ron is bilingual and is going to change the name of the morning show to the "Mexican Club." I hope this is not true because I don't know a lick of spanish......perhaps if it is true you could give spanish lessons for an hour or two each day so that all of us WYSH fans can keep listening! Perhaps Ron could do Trading Time using his bilingual skills--being his own interpeter so that everybody can still participate in the bargans. If this wild rumor turns out to be true, maybe you could kick off the change-over with a Freddy Fender song!

Hello Wysh Radio Staff. I was just curious, and had a little request if its not too much trouble. Do you think sometime in the near future you could post a current photo of your staff on the website? I don't want you to think I'm some kind of wierdo groupie, but I'd like to do a print-out of the current photo to post above my radio so I can put a face with the voice I'm hearing on the radio. C'mon Cassie from Clinton! Be nice to Ron! Can't you figure out the only reason he is advertising his house in the obituary section is so that the people who inherit the money from the poor souls who have passed on will have a wonderful opportunity to purchase a beautiful piece of real estate with thier new found cash flow! Think of it as a way for the survivors in the family to establish a beatiful memorial that they can live in---this will be a constant reminder of the loved on they have lost as they enjoy thier lake-front property!

Having heard todays "Ask Your Neighbor," and all the talk about getting spiders out of cars for the sake of the children, all I can say is, "I DON'T LIKE SPIDERS AND SNAKES, AND THAT AIN'T WHAT IT TAKES TO LOVE YOU, LIKE I WANT TO BE LOVED LIKE YOU!"

Ron-enjoyed "Ask Your Neighbor" this mornin! As for the woman with spiders in her car who is worried about how to rid the car of the pests without endangering the child, My wife and myself ran into that problem a few years back, and we found that the best bet is to mount the safety seats on the car-top carrier, and if the babies are sleepy--strap 'em in the trunk where they can rest without distraction. This will save you the effort of buying a can of bug-killer which cost less that $5 a can, and is safe as long as the car is aired out before admitting the babies back into the cab.

I have a great suggestion for Ron for Ask you nieghbor. What about harold ford JR and Bob Corker? Look at all the bad commercials on television? Who would you want to vote for , it sounds bad on both their parts. Bob corker... hired illegal immigrants and let them work now he "wants to secure the border'? and Ford? He spent $12,000 of taxpayers money to use on his daughters wedding. Who wants either of them to run? I really would like to hear what people think about that? am I the only one who thinks this???

Just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank-you for promoting the local businesses here in Clinton. I am new in town, and have already patronized several businesses that I would not have been comfortable to do business with if I had not heard about them on WYSH! Your station is so helpful in getting familiarized with this new beautiful community! Thanks again!

Its finally the middle of the week. The only problem is Wednesdays bore me--so I guess the only option I have to kill the boredom is to listen to the crazy, although sometimes quite interesting and informative line-up on WHSY! I'm not a big radio-groupie type but I sure do enjoy having something to listen to that so local and up-to-date on whats going on right here in our own community! Thanks WYSH Folks for spicing up my Wednesday!

I made an entry yesterday that I was just gonna lay around all day and listen to WYSH, and wait for some man to come by and sweep me off my feet! Well that almost happened, but not quite. I went out to get the mail, and one of my neighbors tryed to nibble on my toes! I was shocked and quite distraught, as that is not my idea of "being swept off my feet!" Needless to say, I ran to the house, locked the door, and decided to be content just kickin' back and listening to good 'ole WYSH!

Does anyone realize that putting your item on Tradin' Time when Jim Harris is anchoring the show increases the opportunity of a sale taking place? It just seems to me that having a News Personality at the helm is like an endorsement on the products being sold. Does Jim get royalites for his performance?

And I would like to make a possible contribution to the project by suggesting this idea for the name of the calendar! Here it is----"ANDERSON COUNTYS D.J.'S IN P.J.'S!" My 'ole girlfriends and myself may not get out much here at this Oakridge retirement community, but that doesn't mean we don't come up with some exciting original ideas, one of which we have come up with that we feel will generate alot of excitement here in the area! We would like to propose that ya'll put together a ''WYSH-P.J.-CALENDAR-2007! Since we enjoy the early morning hours in our P.J.'s, and we assume the Country Club is done in pajamas, we would like to see what your staff looks like in the morning in their sleepwear. Most of us have come to the conclusion that Ron wears boxers and a WYSH t-shirt, Ed Lamar probably wears a long nite-shirt with a stocking cap, and your GM Wendell probably sleeps in his briefs! We can't come to any agreement on what Jim Harris wears to sleep, but we hope that you will take our idea and publish what we feel will generate alot of community excitement! Thanks for your time!

I have a suggestion. Do you think you could start the Country Club a little bit earlier in the day. You see, I wake up every morning around 3 am and pretty much toss and turn to 6am. Those last sleepless hours of the nite could be so much more enjoyable if the Country Club started around 3 am. Just a suggestion, but i think Ron and the gang would enjoy getting up earlier once they got in the habit of it--and I'm sure everyone would enjoy "bonus" Country Club entertainment each day. Thanks!

Ron- been enjoying your show on ubuse of government reasouces this morning with the non-working population. But I must tell you, the government isn't always trying to give away money to the needy. Judging by Dennis Farrelly's comments from Mobile Alabama, I have deemed it necesarry to bring out some thoughts on the treatment of squirrels. These creatures are very emotionally sensitive and do not understand how we could consider them to be pests--so lets try to treat them the best we can---perphaps trapping them and releasing them somewhere where they can function without upsetting human kind. We must not hurt these cute creatures, because deep down inside, squirrels are people too!

comments about squirrels. I had these pest in a grage and little shed , when i found how they got in I put steel wool in the holes and also sprayed the holes with insulation the stuff in a can turns yellow that ended my problems. also pine tree squirrels look like they are flying but they are jumping from tree to tree and finally to your roof. really are pests. dennis

I have just submitted a proposal to Mattel Toy Company for a new version of the Barbie Doll. She will be very life like, and when you poke her in the tummy she "cuts loose!" While it is a little on that tacky side, I think it is kind of refreshing hearing these previous comments from the Seymore Senior Citizens. Yes, its even a little bit nasty but its nice to see that as we age we still have a little bit of childishness deep down inside of us! Maybe you could start a little talk show for poddy mouth seriors! You could call it the "Senior Citizen's Poop-Scoop!" I was scrolliing down thru the guestbook reading all the fall-out resulting from the removal of Ron's controversial fan mail, when I discovered an interesting entry by a FRED KLINE from KNOXVILLE regarding his fondness of the ACLU. In his overwhelming hatred of Christian content on the radio he seem to forget that the catch phrase of the day "SPEPARATION FO CHURCH AND STATE" does not say "SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND RADIO! Furthermore, the phrase "SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE" is not found anywhere in the United states constitution! Put that in your extreem left-wing pipe and smoke it Mr. Kline!

I noticed the comment in the guestbook for tony from harriman, he mentioned that he wished WYSH had an FM. I however, must disagree, as a prefer AM. AM programmers are forced to be more creative and provide a higher level of entertainment to compete with the hi-fi FM's, thus resulting in a more exciting listening experience on those few AM's that remain successful as WYSH has managed to do. FM programming has a history of becoming generic and predictable--while WYSH AM has constantly unleashed a tirade of creative, stimilating entertainment that has a tendency to reley heavily upon audience participation, and this means a customized radio station for the local area the station serves---and if you want the hi-fi just listen the WYSH on the intenernet and get the best of both worlds, but in the mean time AM remains alive and well with me!

JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION, I AM A SUPPORTER OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION, AND I DO NOT APPRECIATE ALL THE RELIGIOUS PROGRAMING YOU SPEW OUT OF YOUR ANTENNA ON SUNDAY! I FEEL YOU SHOULD ALLOW FOR EQUAL ACCESS, PUTTING SOME ATHIEST PROGRAMMING ON SO THAT YOU ARE SHOWING A LITTLE BALANCE AS YOUR SERVE THE PUBLIC INTEREST OVER THE PEOPLES AIRWAVES! SOON THE ACLU WILL CHALLENGE THE FCC--IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THIS EXCESSIVE RELIGIOUS DRIBBLE THAT IS CONTAMINATING OUR AIRWAVES. SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE WILL SOON APPLY TO THE AIRWAVES SINCE THE FCC, A GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION OVERSEES BROADCASTERS, AND I WILL BE MONITORING YOUR STATION TO MAKE SURE YOU DON'T START BROADCASTING THE 10 COMMANDMENTS WHICH WE ALL KNOW IS ILLEGAL!

STATION NOTE...... Mr. Kline you might seem more credible if you could actually spell "atheist". You might want to check the spelling of "programming" too.

Thank you for taking the time to allow the Anderson County candidates voice their opinions and concerns live on your station. "Ask Your Neighor" is a GREAT program allowing the community to respond, comment and ask questions. Hearing someone like Dave Clark who clearly states that he will roll up his sleeves and agressively prosecute criminals is very refreshing. We need someone who is willing to assist us in taking back our neighborhoods, communities, cities and county as a whole. Although truancy is a major issue, we need to focus on the adults who rely on drugs first. At the rate we're going, children tend to follow the footsteps of those they look up to and are learning the legal system better before they become 18 years old.

Thanks for the country music and bluegrass I prefer, and I have been helped by WYSH by their Ask Your Neighbor segment when local issues are the talk of the town. Could you please move the time slot to 12 noon so as I do not have to flip to Neal Boortz and WYSH?

Can't wait till Sunday for your Southen Gospel show! The D. J. dude is great too! Maybe you could do more of than kind of music! As for the previous Dolly entries below--I'm not too concerned about her physical attributes, but sure would enjoy hearing some of her Gospel Songs, (which she has a lot of) once in a while! At any rate, love your station, and you Country Clubbers are funny too!

HI! I HAVE A GREAT IDEA! I REALLY LIKE YOUR WYSH T-SHIRTS BUT I THINK MY IDEA IS NOTE-WORTHY. HOW ABOUT LEAVING THE T-SHIRT JUST LIKE IT IS, EXCEPT PUTTING A PICTURE OF RON'S FACE ON IT WITH HIS NAME BELOW IT. I THINK WEARING A WYSH-RON T-SHIRT WOULD QUICKLY BECOME A FASHIONABLE TREND IN THE AREA, AND IT WOULD ALSO LET PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THE MAN BEHIND THE VOICE ON THE COUNTRY CLUB LOOKS LIKE! AND FOR THE FEW LOCALS WHO DO NOT LISTEN TO THE COUNTRY CLUB-IT WOULD PEAK THIER CURIOSITY TO TUNE IN AND FIND OUT JUST WHAT THAT GUY ON THE T-SHIRT SOUNDS LIKE! I THINK THIS IDEA COULD BE A BIT HIT! HOW ABOUT GIVING THIS IDEA SOME THOUGHT! OK?

( What WYSH Radio did for me) Ron have I ever told you about the time WYSH saved my life. I was walking through the Smoky Mountains and thought I would sit down and listen to some WYSH radio (Im always tuned in) and eat a bologna sandwich. When all of a sudden I heard something come crashing through the woods and it was a headed straight for me. It turned out that this was the Granddaddy of all Bears, 800 pounds and I think he had a real bad tooth ache also. I had to act quick, I reached for my Big Jim Bowie Bear Slaying Knife, Well without knowing I hit the power button on my radio and WYSH was playing a real up-beat Classic Country song. I swear I noticed the bears ears perk up a little and it looked as if he was patting his foot. Well I was shocked when I offered him part of my sandwich and we just sit there and enjoyed part of the afternoon together. Ron I could'nt bring myself to take that radio from him so I just walked on off. Thanks WYSH Boy that sure was a good Bologna sandwich John

Our local country stations claim to play classics as long as you don't request any songs released over 17 years ago. Thanks for playing the real classics, they get me through the workday.
