Very Important Message: Please, donate to the Red Cross or find some way to help the folks in New Orleans. If everyone donated one dollar for every family member and could spread that word nationwide, we would be able to help our fellow Americans. We can't do much from over here, except urge our fellow man to do the right thing for our neighbors in New Orleans. One dollar per family member, and you can make the donation through the Red Cross. I saw the devastation on the news and our thoughts and prayers are with the families that were involved in this devastation, as well as those who are without shelter becase of the storm. Just wanted to throw in a correction from the discussion this morning...You said you have to be an American Citizen to join our military. That is not true. I have a friend living here who is here on a passport. She tried getting a job with a security company and was told no because she wasn't a citizen. But she is considering joining our military because that is allowable. Here is something I found on the internet in a FAQ section....... FAQs > Entrance Requirements Can I join the U.S. Military if I am not an American citizen? Non-citizens may enlist, but cannot reenlist (extend their enlistment beyond their first term of service) unless they become naturalized U.S. citizens. However, after service of three years, additional residency requirements for citizenship can be waived. The Military does not assist in immigration naturalization process. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have a non citizen checking ID at a security job than being in our military learning our secrets.

I tell ya what, I'm comin' back from this "just cause", and I'm gonna buy me a spread of land in Indiana, Kentucky or Tennessee (wherever I can get the best lookin' view), and just enjoy sitting on the porch and drinkin' some ice tea and watch storms roll in. I'll let my kids and grandkids tell me how history talks about what we're doing over here right now, because history is the only thing that determines the outcome of what you fight for, not the nightly news each night. If they had a special report live on CNN during the Normandy invasion, we'd have never fought WWII. The press would have written about all of those deaths and the American public would have cringed...Wait, no they wouldn't have cringed, because that was a time in this country when Americans had backbone and weren't afraid to stand up for what they believed was right, and were not apologetic for the things that were done with the best of intentions. I loved that generation of Americans, and I wish they could live forever, because we could all learn a lot from them, and probably gain alot of strength. So, to the WWII generation, I say "thank you" for doing what you did and not apologizing for it. The world is a better place because of you, and so is America. We won't apologize over here, and lets hope that history shows that we were right on the money!

I was listening to comments made by people on the radio about the war here in Iraq. I was surprised and quite steamed at how the American public is reacting and how much they don't know about it despite the ridiculous coverage by the media. WE ARE NOT FIGHTING IRAQIS! WE ARE FIGHTING TERRORISTS!! They are using Iraq as a base of operations and that's why we're here basing our operations. I have been told personally by Iraqis that 95% of the Iraqi people are very happy we're here and are scared to death that we'll leave till' before they can defend themselves. As far as innocent people dying, it happens in every war. Plus, how many innocent people dyed in 9/11 or any of the other terrorist attacks around the world? How many innocent women and children were brutally murdered by terrorist organizations here in Iraq? We have caused less damage and killed far less innocent people in this war than in any other war in recent History. Any body that protests this war certainly have that right, but don't forget that we provide you that. This seems like another Vietnam where the American public gets one "commercialized" version of this war and think they know what's going on, but they really have no idea. Just support your American troops and keep your two-cents cause I don't want it! As far as doing what needs to be done, we can't cause' of the American public's sympathy for the enemy. President Bush is not "off the track", and your President Clinton got Bin Laden offered on a silver platter several occasions and turned it down. He could've stopped 9/11, how about holding him accountable and let Bush do what has to be done now. Just quit trying to figure everything out and trying to debate what you don't know about and support your troops, not by protesting for them to come home, we don't want to leave till' the job's done, the Warriors that have dyed will have dyed in vain if we have to leave too early. Stop complaining and just back us up, it takes a "Country" to fight a war!

I think it's great that we enjoy so much support from folks back home, it really humbles you as a human being when you're able to connect with folks you've never met. I would like to thank all of the Vietnam Veterans for thier service, it is the lessons our country learned from their return that has allowed us to enjoy the overwhelming support that we have from the American people right now. Been listening for a few months now as I just bought a 57 Cadillac from Heiskell TN and it's pretty cool to listen to the local news from where the car is coming from. As I mentioned in my e-mail news helper, you don't really appreciate how great a radio station WYSH is until you drive through the rest of the Southeast and hear nothing but---uh, not-so-good --radio stations. I may be biased working here and all, but our little station is a GREAT radio station and we (and the listeners who contribute to each and everything we do) should be very proud of ourselves for a job WELL DONE!

WYSH is truely one of the few Country Legends still around serving the community its licensed to and now to the world via internet. I have been listening since 1960, the year the station went on the air, from Knoxville and even more when are family moved to Clinton in 1964. Its been a great 45 years and hope nothing ever changes. Its a "Family Tradition".

Everyone in your town needs to be reminded of how blessed they are. If the President of this radio station is any indication of the type of people that live in Clinton, I need to move there. Not only does your town sound like an absolutely delightful place, but you have the best country radio station I have ever heard. It is so nice to hear the songs that made me a country music fan to begin with -- you know, the songs that don't make you wonder if you accidentally landed on a rock station. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!

Dear Mr. Meredith, Ron, greetings from South Texas. Although I was born in Knoxville, reared in Clinton/Andersonville, graduated in 1977 from Norris High School, and graduated twice from UTK, I have lived the past 19 years in Texas. During this past holiday season, I shared the blessed season with my parents, Reverend Lowell & Mrs. Joyce Elkins. They are long-time fans of "Trading Time", "Ask Your Neighbor", and classic country music. When someone visits my parents or rides in their vehicles, one might think the radios only receive WYSH. Given the miracle of computers and the Internet, I now can listen to WYSH and feel as though I am almost back home in East Tennessee. I am an Associate Professor at Texas A&M University-Kingsville in the Department of Communications & Theatre Arts. Although I love Texas, Tennessee is home--go Vols! In fact, I might have been the lone voice living in the Lone Star State who enjoyed our recent Cotton Bowl. ( - : Seriously, several folks at Island Ford Baptist Church listen you your wonderful radio station. I sincerely wish all of East Tennessee the best. As Bill Williams from WBIR states, "Straight from the Heart of East Tennessee" allow me to add that there is no place like a beautiful East Tennessee mountain home and no folks nicer than East Tennesseeans. We used to only listen to Trading Time and Ask Your Neighbor, but since I have discovered you earlier, we have decided you both must have some really strong coffee and are at your best!
